Dog Stolen Years Ago, Is Flown 600 Miles Back And Reunited With Family
It is not easy to say goodbye to a dog for the last time, let alone to lose a dog without having the chance to say a proper goodbye.
When Stephanie Moore-Malmstrom and her family let their German shepherd Sheba play in front of their home in Baytown, Texas, they never imagined it would be the last time they would see their faithful four-legged friend.
Sheba, still a puppy at the time, was stolen and taken away, driving the Moore-Malmstroms to despair.... until one day Stephanie received a text message!
A call on Facebook
In 2018, Stephanie Moore-Malmstrom and her family experienced every owner's nightmare - Sheba was stolen.
Stephanie poured her heart out on Facebook and said:
" Dear person who has my baby, she is spayed, so if you took her to breed with, that will never happen and we beg you to bring her back home."
"If you only took her because she is beautiful and sweet, please know that you have left a hole in our family and we have 2 young daughters who are absolutely devastated and praying for their 'sheba girl' to come home," she continued.
Months of silence and despair
Despite countless nights of worry, there was no news about Sheba.
Unfortunately, no news came from the police or animal control.
Sheba seemed to have disappeared, leaving the family in painful silence.
A text message
Time passed and the family slowly resigned itself to the fact that they might never see Sheba again.
After four and a half years, a text message changed the whole situation. Stephanie received a message saying: "Hello Stephanie, your pet Sheba has a microchip reported as found...".
Stephanie, in disbelief, wrote on Facebook, "My first thought was, ok, yeah well, let me guess, I won a cruise and also a million dollars."
The Journey of Sheba
It turned out that Officer Harper of the Animal Control in Borger, Texas, had found Sheba wandering down a street 600 miles from home.
She was brought to the facility and when she was scanned for a microchip, Sheba's owners were identified.
Pilots N Paws flew Sheba back home for a reunion filled with tears, laughter and overwhelming joy.
Reunification after 4.5 years
When the plane landed, Sheba rushed to her family and immediately recognized them.
The family, still filled with disbelief, held Sheba close, unable to believe that their girl was finally home after all these years.
Past and present of Sheba
Sheba was with a family for more than 4 years, but when that family had to move, they left her on the streets.
Agent Harper rescued her and made sure she returned safely.
Today, despite her past, Sheba is a happy little dog and showered her family with love and joy.
