Dog Waits Outside Home Owner For Weeks - Not Realizing They Abandoned Him
A loyal dog waited outside his owners' home for weeks, unaware that he had been abandoned.
Salvatore waited outside the house in Florida for two weeks, thinking his owners would return. But they never did.
Noticed by neighbors
Neighbors noticed Salvatore's lonely wait and worried about him.
They contacted a local animal shelter.
Eventually he was picked up by Everglades Angels Dog Rescue staff and taken in and cared for.
Salvatore, who is about five or six years old, was described as a "perfect pet" who got along well with children.
He was a sweet dog who did not deserve to be dumped by his family.
"Aside from the sadness in his eyes, Salvatore is a handsome dog," said a staff member of Everglades Angels Dog Rescue.
An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language.
"It took a lot of patience, love and dedication to get this dog to understand that we were there to help him," said Everglades Angels Dog Rescue
The heartwarming story was shared
The shelter shared Salvatore's story on Facebook, touching the hearts of many.
"Salvatore was very nervous but not aggressive.... Unfortunately, he was still looking for his family. His family abandoned him. We will not do that." said Everglades Angels Dog Rescue
People around the world followed Salvatore's journey on social media.
They felt connected to this loyal puppy and offered their support.
A happy ending
After spending two months at the shelter, Salvatore's story also reached Chris.
Chris decided to open his heart and home to Salvatore, giving him a family forever.
Everglades Angels Dog Rescue expressed gratitude, saying, "Thank you Chris for opening your heart and home to this sweet boy."
Now this beautiful dog finally has the life he deserves. He has a family that loves him and will never abandon him.
