Anxious Dog Feels Happy and Safe with New Owner's Hug
Stray dogs sometimes have to go through so much pain and disappointment before they have a chance at a new life.
Often they are afraid to approach a human being because they have been mistreated in the past, but deep down they know that not all humans are bad.
This story is about a dog who was very scared, but he gave his new owner a chance and with that his life changed.
Terrified Buddy
When Buddy was first found, he was so afraid of people that he ran away whenever he saw someone.
It was as if he wanted nothing to do with people.
Dear people did their best to catch and rescue Buddy from the rough streets of Oregon. They knew he deserved a better life. After two months, they managed to trap and rescue him.
Lee Asher, the man who decided to adopt the dog, told The Dodo: Buddy was dumped at a very common place where they dump dogs.
When the two were first introduced to each other, Buddy was naturally reserved and even barked at Asher out of fear.
Lee didn't get upset. He knew Buddy needed time to trust him.
He said, "I'm not judging what I just went through with his barking and things like that. We are about to get into a new environment and it will be different. I feel it. I know it. I trust it and I trust him."
A heartwarming encounter
Slowly, Buddy realized that Lee meant no harm. He saw that Lee only wanted to help him. He allowed Lee to take him to his car, which was the first step toward his new home. Buddy went to The Asher House in Portland, a place where he could feel safe and loved.
Adjusting to a new life
At Asher House, Buddy was able to get used to his new surroundings. It was his first day and everyone knew he needed time to get used to it. Lee understood that Buddy needed to set his own boundaries and was ready to do so. It wasn't easy, but over time Buddy began to feel less anxious. He made new friends with the other dogs in the house and began to act like a happy and playful dog.
What is the lesson of Buddy's story?
Buddy's story reminds us that dogs really are precious animals. They have big hearts and are willing to give people a second chance, even if they have been hurt in the past. No matter what happens, dogs like Buddy always hope for a better life. This story shows us that dogs are our best friends and we should cherish every moment we spend with them.
As Lee Asher said, "I can feel it. I know him. I trust it and I trust Him."
