Animals can be very supportive of each other.

An example is this dog, who does not hesitate for a second and jumps into the water to save a life.

The special morning walk

On a quiet Sunday morning, Mark Freeley and his family decided to take their daily walk along the coast.

It was an opportunity to be with family and Storm, the faithful golden retriever, was part of this happy family.

During the walk, something extraordinary happened.

Storm, the golden retriever, suddenly jumped into the ocean.

The brave deed of Storm

What happened next was truly heroic. Storm saw a baby deer floundering in the ocean and without hesitation he swam toward the deer to save it from drowning.

Storm gently grabbed the baby deer by its neck and swam with all his might back to shore.

He made sure the deer was safe. Once they were safely on land, Storm did not leave the deer alone.

He acted like a caring mother, licking and petting the young deer to comfort and reassure it.

Help arrives

Mark Freeley knew the deer needed further help. He contacted Strong Island Animal Rescue and two friendly volunteers, Frankie Floridia and Erika Kutzing, quickly arrived to help.

But when the rescue team appeared, the frightened deer became frightened and jumped back into the ocean in an attempt to escape. Frankie Floridia had to jump into the water to rescue the deer again.

The recovery

The baby deer was taken to a local animal shelter. They expected the baby deer, with an injured eye, to make a full recovery. Once the baby deer was better, it would be released back into the wild.

The video went viral

Mark Freeley shared a video of Storm's brave rescue on his Facebook page.

The story quickly went viral. More than 5.7 million people watched the video, which drew more than 26,000 comments, and the video was shared more than 100,000 times.

Storm's tremendous bravery did not go unnoticed. In recognition of his bravery, he received a Certificate of Appreciation from Suffolk County, New York.

Storm, the heroic golden retriever, showed that heroes come in all shapes and sizes, even in our four-legged friends.

His extraordinary rescue of a baby deer touched the hearts of many and inspired people around the world.
