Little Dog Living On The Streets Finds Her Way Back To Her Old Life
In a small town in Texas lived a little dog named Truvy.
She had been living near a busy road and a cemetery for a year.
A kind woman who lived nearby saw Truvy and knew she needed help.
She was afraid Truvy would try to cross the dangerous road and contacted Cindy Nash, who ran an animal shelter called Nicholas' Pet Haven.
The rescue
Cindy Nash and her team quickly responded to the call. They wanted to rescue Truvy and make sure she was safe.
Coincidentally, on the same day, another group was looking for the puppy.
As they were setting up the traps, they met Dr. Harshivinderjit S. Bains, who regularly watched Truvy, the dog, from a distance.
"He told me he really loved that dog and wanted to take her home. She lived in his clinic when it was still being built and managed to stay there all last winter when it was so cold. He provided her with bedding, food and water for a year, but could never touch her," Cindy said.
A surprising rescue
Later that day, Cindy went back to check the traps and she couldn't believe her eyes.
Truvy was waiting patiently in one of the traps. Cindy decided to take Truvy to her home.
She didn't know how Truvy would react, so she carefully opened the cage. Truvy didn't waste a second.
She immediately jumped onto Cindy's lap. It was a heartwarming moment.
"She was so happy to be rescued and that melted my heart," Cindy said.
At vet check-up
The next day, Truvy was checked out at the vet. And guess what? They found a microchip.
The veterinarian immediately contacted Truvy's family, who lived in Texas. They had moved there a year ago and didn't realize how small Truvy was.
When they released her into their new yard, she managed to wriggle through an iron fence and explore the world.
Amy Logan, Truvy's mother, said:
"We immediately searched the neighborhood, on foot and by car. For the next few months, I drove around looking for her. I also emailed all the animal clinics, shelters and rescue groups within a 60-mile radius, in case she was found by someone who didn't live nearby."
A heartwarming reunion
Truvy had been missing for nearly 13 months before she was rescued.
But thanks to the microchip, she was reunited with her family the next day.
At first it took her a moment to recognize her mother, Amy Logan. But soon she knew she was back where she belonged.
"It took her a while to realize it was her mother," Cindy said.
"By the time they brought her home, she was calm and knew she was safe at home. She was really a little happy girl."
Dr. Bains, who had cared for Truvy while she stayed at his clinic, was happy to know she was back where she belonged.
Amy Logan was very grateful to him for keeping Truvy safe during her absence.
This heartwarming story reminds us to never give up hope and emphasizes the importance of microchipping pets.
