There is no greater sorrow than losing your favorite person in the world!

Even our faithful four-legged friends feel this sadness.

In Compton, California, there is a story about a one-year-old dog who could not accept that her owner would never return from the hospital.

This brave dog waited for days, even during a hurricane, hoping to see her owner again.

It is a story of love and loyalty that will touch your heart deeply.

A loving bond

Hilary's owner became very ill and had to be rushed to Martin Luther King Hospital.

Hilary didn't understand what was happening, but she knew she needed to be with him.

She followed the ambulance all the way to the hospital. She was so loyal.

The long wait

When they reached the hospital, Hilary watched as her owner was brought in on a stretcher.

She wanted so badly to be with him, but hospital security stopped her at the door. She didn't understand why they didn't let her in.

Unfortunately, her favorite person died shortly after he was admitted, but she didn't know that!

For ten long days Hilary waited outside the hospital, hoping her owner would come out.

She was not eating and had no safe place to sleep. She just stared at the hospital entrance, waiting for him to come out.

A glimmer of hope

The hospital staff saw how loyal Hilary was and wanted to help her.

They called Suzette Hall of Logan's Legacy, a dog rescue organization, for help.

Suzette was moved by Hilary's story and knew she had to help.

Suzette set up a trap with treats to lure Hilary. She watched as the dog walked into the trap.

Even after she was rescued, Hilary kept looking toward the hospital, hoping to see her owner.

A new beginning

Suzette took Hilary to Camino Pet Hospital to make sure she was healthy.

She was then placed in a loving foster home with Laura, who did her best to help Hilary recover.

The hospital staff had named her Hilary (after the hurricane she had survived).

Hilary slowly began to adjust to her new life and made friends with people and other dogs.

"She loves people and other dogs! She is about a year old and weighs just over 5 kg. She is a smart girl and should be a lot of fun to train. She is still a little tense on walks, but every day she gets better and better," says Laura.

Hilary's story is one of love and loyalty. Although she will always remember her first owner, she is looking for a new family. She will bring happiness to a new home and make a fresh start.

As Suzette Hall said:

"Her heart is broken, you can see it in her eyes.... so incredibly loyal." And one day, her loyalty will shine in a new loving home.
