In July 2019, Heart & Bones Animal Rescue received a three-year-old shepherd mix.

This sweet stray dog had given birth to 11 adorable puppies, which she was still nursing.

All of her puppies were beautiful, but there was something very special about this one puppy. She was born with a special characteristic that made everyone's heart melt as soon as they saw her.

The puppy had a distinctive black markings on her face in the shape of a mustache that resembled the mustache of famous Spanish painter Salvador Dalí.

Famous puppy

Because of its distinctive marking, the puppy quickly became popular around the world.

She was called the "Mustache Puppy," but then the shelter came up with a glorious name that suited her better.... Salvador Dolly.

The shelter cared for this little family for a few days, but given the risk that young puppies can get sick in such an environment, they had to find someone willing to take them all in.

Thanks to an experienced dog rescuer, Jessica, from Texas, they were able to rescue Salvador Dolly and her family.

Allison of Heart & Bones Rescue, told The Dodo, "The first thing people usually ask is, 'Is that real?' And then there's a lot of excitement and amazement about her"

Because who wouldn't be obsessed with this sweet little cutie, because she is just so cute.

In the foster home, the puppies were mostly snoozing, eating and crawling all over each other.... basically living their lives. Mom was also cared for as best she could, with plenty of food and rest in between caring for her puppies.

When the puppies were weaned off, they were all flown to New York to be eventually adopted.

With the amount of fame this puppy had achieved, everyone was sure she would be adopted in no time.

Amazingly, more than 100 people applied to adopt this puppy, after which the shelter had to stop accepting further adoption applications.

They wrote on their Instagram page, "We are completely impressed with the tremendous amount of response Dolly has received and hope she encourages more people to adopt, foster and support rescue groups."

It took the volunteer team some time to go through all the applications, but in the end they were able to find the perfect family for little Dolly.

How is Dolly doing now

"After reviewing over 100 adoption applications, we knew Scott and Ryan were destined to be Dolly's forever family. They wore Salvador Dalí t-shirts during their home visit and they took us on a tour of their beachfront village where neighbors and friends stopped them on the street to tell us how wonderful they are," the shelter wrote in their Facebook post.

Dolly has found a new home with the couple, Ryan Landry and Scott Martino who live in Provincetown, Massachusetts.

She is a big girl now, but her famous mark is still there, as prominent as ever, as shown in her recent photos.

Landry said in an interview with Boston.com, "She has bouts of energy that last 10 minutes and then she just wants to sit on your lap."

Martino added, "She has been recognized on the street when I walked with her a few times. The mustache, I have a feeling it will become more pronounced as she gets older."

This famous doggie is enjoying her life in her new home and new town close to the beach, where she can enjoy regular walks.

Dolly is a truly special dog. She is incredibly sweet, considerate and patient, and you can see that in her interaction with her new friend Perry.
