Smiling and cuddling have always been Bella's specialties! This cutie was nothing more than a friendly, enthusiastic shelter dog until fate took an unexpected turn.

Instead of finding a home for her right away, Bella had to wait more than 100 days for adoption!

All those endless nights and days in a small cage proved to be her worst nightmare, as she quickly gained a reputation for being the dog no one wanted. And for the energetic Bella, that was the last thing she expected....

Bella's story

This three-year-old dog was relinquished to the Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Florida by her owner, who had to relinquish her because his landlord did not allow Bulldogs.

Despite the heartbreaking goodbye to the person she loved most, Bella never lost her unique character. She was always the sweetest cuddle dog, ready to hug anyone who gave her a little attention.

"All staff and volunteers love her," the HSBC team wrote on their TikTok account.

But months passed and things soon went downhill with this treasure. Instead of quickly finding a new home, Bella spent more than 100 days "behind bars."

"She's starting to shut down."

It took exactly 130 days for Bella to hit rock bottom. She slowly began to shut down, and soon her well-known character disappeared.

Instead of her familiar wide smile and her cute wag to her caretakers, Bella began to show signs of depression. She simply lay on the floor with a blank stare, uninterested in any activity whatsoever.

"She is starting to shut down.... We're not sure why adopters walked past her, because Bella is so wonderful," the HSBC team wrote.

The team at HSBC knew they had to do something to find a new home for Bella - so they came up with an idea!

They wrote a document about Bella's predicament and taped it to her kennel.

"I am trying to keep my morals high, but after 130 days in this lonely cage, I am beginning to think that no one will ever choose me. I don't understand. I am housebroken, well behaved, like most dogs I love fetch, the kiddie pool, I love little ones and big people too," the document read.

Then they immediately recorded a video and posted it on their official TikTok, not knowing that within a few hours thousands of people would respond to it.

After 4 months to a new home

The real miracle was that Bella had found a new mother in less than 24 hours!

A woman from Delray Beach, Florida, saw the video and drove all the way to the shelter hoping to be the first to adopt this adorable girl.... and it happened!

Bella and her new mom fell in love immediately! According to the shelter staff, Bella and her new owner share exactly the same energy, which is why it was not difficult for the two to form a bond from the moment they saw each other.

In no time at all, Bella was in the car with her new owner, ready to embark on an amazing journey - absolutely certain that life will be absolutely fantastic from now on!
