Starving Puppy Gives Last Piece Of Bread To His Rescuers
Dogs may not be able to talk, but their actions say more about their character than any words.
Gunnar, a seven-week-old puppy was a prime example of this.
He taught the whole world a valuable life lesson, demonstrating that dogs are truly selfless creatures with a great sense of gratitude and affection, as well as the ability to forgive and forget.
This starving, sick and abandoned puppy still managed to wag his tail and share his last bit of food with the people who came to his rescue.
Saved by Sidewalk Specials
Gunnar's story from hopelessness to new hope began when a group of kind people from Sidewalk Specials found him.
He had been left in a dirty place, surrounded by trash and with only a little food, which he had probably found among the garbage.
The rescue was captured in a heartwarming video showing how Gunnar could barely see through all the mud that covered him.
But when the rescue team from Sidewalk Specials approached him, he became excited, realizing he was being rescued.
He carried a slice of bread with such joy and excitement, which broke the hearts not only of his rescuers, but of everyone who saw the video of his rescue.
One of the rescuers said, "We were there just in the nick of time for him. His absolutely positive attitude kept him going."
He was taken to a veterinarian for a thorough examination and there they discovered how sick he was.
He had tick infections, tick fever, worms and anemia.
These health problems posed a serious risk to his overall well-being.
Gunnar's small size may have been one of the reasons he survived, but his positive energy and will to live were even more special.
One of the rescuers told: "We got there just in time for him. He had been cold, scared and alone for a week. His absolutely positive attitude kept him going."
A loving home
Gunnar's story took a positive turn when he was taken to a loving foster home.
There, however, he did not stay long.
Freya, a dog lover, met Gunnar and immediately felt a click.
She opened her heart and home to him. Gunnar was grateful for the love and care he received.
Freya described him as follows:
"He didn't act hard at all to open up to us. It felt like he was very grateful to be rescued."
Gunnar's new home introduced him to a world of wonders.
One of the things that fascinated him most was grass. Gunnar had never seen grass before, and when he stepped onto a grass field for the first time, his curiosity and excitement were obvious.
He loved playing outside, running around and chasing his favorite play ball.
But Gunnar had a unique occupation that made him even more special.
He became obsessed with collecting rocks. Not just any stones.
He searched for what he thought was the "perfect stone" and proudly showed it to his family. Freya called him their "little rockstar."
Gunnar, the foster brother
Freya became a foster mom in 2020 and since then Gunnar has had the opportunity to interact with many other dogs.
Since he is a real social dog and enjoys spending time with both people and other animals, the task of being a foster brother is not a problem for Gunnar.
He loves to play with other four-legged friends and show them the way through the house and garden.
Thanks to the kind people at Sidewalk Specials, Gunnar has grown into a beautiful dog who is loved and cared for by his mother Freya.
