Sweet 15-year-old Dog Abandoned At A Cat Shelter Is Found By An Employee
An interesting fact I read recently is that the most common cause for older dogs to be abandoned is that the owners move somewhere else where dogs are not welcome.
However, that does not excuse the fact that some people do not even bother to find a new home for them.
Instead, they are dumped on the streets or placed in an asylum so that someone else will do it for them.
It's cruel and the dogs don't deserve it.
This story is about an elderly dog who was randomly abandoned by her owners at a cat shelter.
Abandoned and alone
Honey's story begins with her abandonment at a cat shelter.
Too bad Honey's owners didn't even try to find her a new home.
Instead, she was dropped off at a cat shelter in Ohio.
One day a kind woman Kay Banks, who worked at the Tabby Tails Cat Rescue, noticed something unusual outside.
A dog walked around the shelter, and at first Kay thought it might be a neighbor's dog.
But when she looked closer, it became clear that this dog had been abandoned.
Without hesitation, Kay welcomed the lone dog inside.
She saw gray hairs and realized it was a senior dog.
Banks called her Honey and they determined that she was at least 15 years old.
When Kay contacted Honey's previous owner, they refused to take her back, even though she had a microchip.
That was the moment Kay decided to take care of Honey.
Care and hope
Honey struggled with health problems such as arthritis, overgrown nails, ticks and fleas.
Thanks to Kay's care and a visit to the vet, Honey received laser therapy for her arthritis, which helped her move more easily.
Despite all the challenges, Honey found comfort and love with Kay.
She enjoys her days around her new boyfriend.
Kay Banks is hopeful she can find someone willing to adopt a senior dog despite all her problems, but she is happy to take care of her until that day comes.
Hopefully Honey's story will inspire us all to be a little sweeter to our four-legged friends.
