Two years ago, Wendy Broom was awakened from her slumber by her daughter with an urgent request.

A small puppy ran across the road near their home, she was clearly abandoned. The puppy had cuts and scrapes and was severely underweight.

Broom immediately sprang into action.

"I had a small box and put a blanket in it, and the puppy immediately curled up in it." Broom told

A rescue operation

The puppy, later named Taylor, did not resist when rescuers took her away.

She was sick and weak and just wanted a warm and safe place.

They carefully placed her in their car and took her to the vet.

Even though she slept in the car, you could feel how happy she was to be away from the terrible road.

The road to recovery

For the first few days, Taylor recovered slowly. She had to be kept away from other dogs for a while.

But soon she was full of energy and joy. She loved to play all the time and showed a change in her attitude.

Taylor's caregivers did notice a problem with her paw.

She had to go back to the vet and a splint was put on it.

Surprisingly, she was out of the splint within two weeks and was able to return to her favorite activities almost immediately.

Taylor showed perseverance and wanted to trust people again when she realized how much her new mother loves her. It is truly heartwarming.

She met a new little brother and explored new places.

She learned to bark and let her beautiful voice be heard. After two months of therapy and recovery, she was a completely different dog.

"I really feel like we've formed a special bond," Broom said. "She follows me everywhere and likes to chew on everything. She's so lively and she makes me laugh."

Her mother is so grateful to have her.

This shows you how a dog's whole life can change if you just give them a chance, and how ours can improve as well.
