Woman Discovers Injured Puppy While On Vacation And Gives Her The Best Life Possible
When Diana Salinas went on vacation, she could not have imagined coming across a fluffy creature that would change her life forever.
When her father saw a starving stray dog, he called Diana and asked her to feed the little pup, who clearly needed help.
As soon as Diana saw the helpless little dog dragging her hind legs, her heart sank.
The discovery
While on vacation, Diana's father saw a small, starving puppy.
The puppy needed help, and Diana's heart sank as she watched the little animal drag its hind legs.
She was determined to help the little pup.
Adoption
Diana was worried about the puppy's health and couldn't bring herself to leave her behind.
She took the little dog in and decided to adopt her once she was back in the U.S. She named her Pinta.
Diana and her father were afraid that Pinta would be in a lot of pain and that the vet would suggest putting her down.
As her vacation was coming to an end, Diana was looking hard for the veterinarian who would give her doggie the best possible care.
Diana says, " On the day I was supposed to go home, I found a doctor just in time who was willing to take her in. They discovered that she had broken her vertebrae and one of her legs was also broken."
The veterinarian diagnosed Pinta with a fractured vertebra and a broken leg. Life-saving surgery was needed.
Before flying back home, Diana paid for the surgery and entrusted Pinta to the care of her veterinarian.
Diana breathed a sigh of relief when she learned that the surgery had been successful.
Reunion
For four months, Diana received regular updates on Pinta's recovery.
She eagerly awaited the day of their reunion.
Diana's mother flew to pick up Pinta and bring her to her new home in California.
Diana shared happily, "Now she has a huge personality. Now she loves to play. She loves people. Her personality is super goofy."
A happy life in California
In her new home, Pinta adjusted quickly. Diana showered her with love, and Pinta's life changed.
She learned to swim, her way of walking improved and her cheerful character shone.
Although it was not always easy to care for Pinta, Diana would do it again in a heartbeat.
For her, the biggest reward was seeing Pinta turn into a happy dog who enjoyed life.
Diana said, "I love her so much. And I am so happy she is in my life and I hope she will be in mine and my friend's lives for many years to come.... We want to give her the best possible life a dog can have."
I am grateful to Diana and her family for saving her and giving her the life she deserves.
